Bluenose Marathon

This was our 3rd year participating in this provincial event. We had a fantastic day and raised over $5,000. This money was used toward the cost of our new elevator lift. Thanks again to the participants, family, staff and donors for contributing to this fund raiser. Join Team BLF starting in October!

Breakfast/Plant Sale

This event took place on June 6th. The greenhouse was simply beautiful filled with hanging baskets, annuals, fresh herbs and more. The breakfast was very well attended. No one left hungry! See you all again next year!

Lions Club Donation

The Chester Basin/New Ross/Chester Lions Club made a wonderful donation which we are setting aside for an upcoming washroom renovation.

Welcome Sign Created By Roberta and Participants and Staff

New volunteer Roberta Boutilier helped us to create a colourful Welcome sign that we will hang in our lobby once a frame has been made. It was a great art project for participants and staff.

St. James ACW Visit

The St. James ACW have been donating to Bonny Lea Farm for 25 consecutive years! It was a delight to have them visit us again and to present them with a plaque of appreciation.

Dietetic Intern from MSVU

Ms. Courtney Masey a Dietetic student from Mount Saint Vincent University completed her first Intern placement with us. Her main project was entitled,"Making Positive Changes on Eating Behaviors: Creating a Healthy Lunch Menu at Bonny Lea Farm."

AGM 2015

Our Annual General Meeting was held on June 29th chaired by Mary Ellen Clancey. New society members were inducted into the Association (South Shore Community Service Association) Long time board member Joe Stackhouse was recognized for his years of service as he retires from the board but will remain on certain committees. The Annual Report can be obtained on the Home Page of our website.

Annual Golf Tournament 2015

Our Annual Golf Tournament took place on September 13. We had 36 teams registered and 35 team played. $29,000 was raised! Thanks to Jack Flemming and Colleen Fitzgerald for organizing this important fund raiser for Bonny Lea Farm.

100 Men South Shore

Bonny Lea Farm spoke before 100 Men South Shore to raise money for Group Home Renovations. We received $3,800. Thank you 100 Men South Shore!

Premier's Visit

Premier Stephen McNeil stopped by Bonny Lea Farm Sept. 23 for a brief tour of the participants work place and homes. He was accompanied by Susan Lohnes-Croft.

Elevator Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

After a three year fund raising campaign and construction, a new elevator (lift) was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 12, 2015. Major donors, staff, board and participants were on hand to celebrate this special occasion.

Direct Mail Campaign 2015

Our annual Direct Mail Campaign is in full swing. Each year we call upon our loyal donors and aquire new donors by sending our appeal letter through the Progress/Bulletin to targeted areas. Highlights Christmas Dinner 2015

Christmas Dinner is a highlight of our year at Bonny Lea Farm. It is a time to gather with the participants, staff, board, the participants' families and invited guests. A special tribute was made in Mrs. Baker's memory. She was in our hearts as we paid tribute to her legacy that we will carry on with her vision of participants working and living in an inclusive society.

Bonny Lea Farm Gives Back

Chester's Starfish Refugee Project volunteers dropped by this morning to pick up four dressers donated by Bonny Lea Farm and refurbished by the South Shore Work Activity Program. Peter's Retirement

Peter Parson's retires from his full time position with Bonny Lea Farm after 43 years!

Broadening Options

Bonny Lea Farm's Broadening Options Program seeks out work placements for participants who have expressed an interest in expanding their vocational training in the community. Ronnie is currently at Julien's Bakery helping to stack and store wood that feeds the bakery oven. The owners say that Ronnie is doing a fantastic job and they would like him to work some additional hours. Way to go Ronnie!

Winter Carnival 2016

Winter Carnival fun has begun. We will be celebrating winter over the next few Fridays. Part 2 pictures highlight our Karaoke afternoon.(Karaoke 1) On Friday February 19 we hosted our annual Fashion Show. Our final carnival activity was Karaoke 2. Our participants are very talented. Wonderful images attached. Enjoy!

Silent Auction at Spring Concert

The Silent Auction was very successful! The music was delightful!

Music Jam 2016

Participants attended many wonderful Music Jams held at the Chester Basin Legion. The musicians gather at Bonny Lea Farm for their year end celebration. Thanks to Richard Eldridge and his wife Mary for putting this show together. Our very own Lori, Peter and Rose performed too.

Team BLF Pep Rally

May 3 was Bluenose Marathon Pep Rally Celebration. Bluenose Marathon Mascott, Myles and his Captain, Sue Tregenno helped us to cheer on the team as we prepare for the 5K race on May 21.


On May 16 Derrick Coolen, District Deputy Grand Master of Masons for Lunenburg and Queens counties arrived at Bonny Lea Farm today with exiting news. Bonny Lea Farm has been selected as the District project and has received $9184 to be used towards purchasing a wheelchair accessible van.

Bluenose Marathon May 21, 2016

Team Bonny Lea Farm Crossed the Finish Line on May 21 at the Bluenose Marathon in Halifax. Our hard training and fund raising paid off. A great time was had by all! Thanks again to our sponsors/donors and everybody involved in making our experience one to remember!
